“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Gandhi

Last September, we started our national AmeriCorps program and welcomed five incredible individuals into our ESP family. AmeriCorps is the domestic version of the Peace Corps ― a year-long program in which people commit to a year of service to improve their communities. We are privileged to host five AmeriCorps Members at ESP who are dedicated to growing our ability to serve the underserved through targeted family outreach, and also grow our Java Joy program to empower more adults with disabilities.

Our AmeriCorps Members have already made an incredible impact and will continue to help us reach more families who could benefit from ESP. Here is a glimpse from some community members and new families who have already benefited from the service of our Members:

Thanks to one of your AmeriCorps members, one of the families at the Athens Area Homeless Shelter started utilizing your programs and they love it! Thank you for what y’all provide and for making the connection. We are grateful!

Just wanted to drop a quick note of what an outstanding job your AmeriCorps Members did representing ESP at the Walton County Parent meeting last Thursday. They even asked them on the fly to give a little speech about the programs offered at ESP and did fabulous. Thank you for having them share and be a part of our children lives.

I attended the School District’s Special Education Night and it was a wonderful step in the right direction. The District provided a wealth of information, access to supports, dinner, and child car. ESP’s AmeriCorps members also gave a presentation of the FREE services ESP offers including transportation, shuttles, an after school program, day camp, field trip camp, and overnight camp. There will be a 2nd presentation on the West side soon. I encourage everyone to attend. It was definitely worth it.

In partnership with the efforts of our AmeriCorps Members, your Fan Club membership is what ensures we can welcome all of these families into ESP no matter their ability to contribute towards program costs. We are so grateful to you in helping us ensure every family, child, and individual who could benefit from ESP can be a part of our family no matter what.
